Norfolk Island Creative Residencies: KAVHA'

Norfolk Island Creative Residencies: KAVHA’ CDANI (The Cultural Development Association of Norfolk Island) is proud to announce the ‘Norfolk Island Creative Residencies’ an international artist -in-residence program on Norfolk Island based in the Kingston and Arthurs Vale Area. The project is open to creative practitioners, (visual artists, writers and performers/musicians) from Norfolk and overseas who will have the opportunity to engage with Norfolk's multi-layered history, culture and communities, with a specific focus on the Kingston area.

The applicants are required to submit a proposal for a project which may be carried out in whole or in part during their residency and are offered studio space in a Georgian-era historic building, with access to museum collections, knowledge holders and help with facilitating their projects and events. This might include exhibitions, performances, workshops, and some aspect of the project should benefit the Norfolk Island people, through mentoring, workshops, talks or performance/exhibitions.

Projects can be several days to several months in length. It is expected that residencies within KAVHA address some aspect of the sites heritage values either through engagement with museum collections, historical research, natural history or some aspect of the present-day site and usage. The scope is broad, and we welcome discussing your ideas. The selection panel is made up from a representative from KAVHA, a representative from the Council of Elders, and two CDANI members. You can find more information and an application form on the CDANI website at cdani.org or contact secretary@cdani.org and please feel free to pass this onto people who you feel might be interested.

Thank you to the KAVHA Advisory Committee and the KAVHA Secretary for their enthusiasm for this project, we are very excited to see some interesting projects come to life. Source: Norfolk Online News. 21 May 2026
